Turkiye by the Spanish students

 Türkiye BLOG

My trip started on Saturday afternoon at Malaga airport, where I met everyone.
We took a plane to Istanbul and then to Smyrna. We arrived at the hotel early in the morning.

The next day, on Sunday, we got up, had breakfast, got ready and visited the city center. At noon, we went to the clock tower and went straight to have lunch to a typical restaurant. After lunch, we went to a viewpoint called Asansör, from there you could see the whole city. At that time, we met Emel, and had a snack in the coffee shop that was in the viewpoint. After enjoying the chat with Emel, we walked along the promenade as the sun went down. At the end of the day, we went back to the hotel to change clothes and went out to have dinner.

On Monday at 10 am we met a woman for a city tour of Izmir. She took us to a Mosque, where we had to take our shoes off and cover our heads to get in. After visiting it, we toured the bazaars and the market, which had a lot of fish, fruit and beautiful dresses. After that, we got a drink and continued with the gift shopping. At about 4 pm, we set off to find a place for lunch, we ate and then we went to buy sweets; after that, the girls and Almudena went to continue shopping, while Juan and I went back to the hotel. We had a shower and prepared to go out for dinner with the Bulgarian teachers. The food was delicious! After that, we returned to the hotel and packed our luggage because we had to leave the hotel the next morning.

On Tuesday, we woke up early to leave the hotel and went to the train station where the Turkish team were picking us up to go hiking to Virgin Mary’s house. On the way, we stopped to take a group photo with the giant statue of the Virgin. Then we went to Virgin Mary’s house, they explained us the story and we entered the house. After that, we tried to visit Ephesus,  but there was an inconvenience, so we couldn’t  get in. Then, we went to eat at a buffet where there was a lot of food. After lunch, we returned to Ephesus and were able to enter and visit it.  In the spare time we went to Kuşadasi, where we bought some things and drank wine.  We got on the bus for dinner downtown, where one of the Turkish girls took us to eat at a typical place. After dinner, we got on the bus to come to Nazili, which from the center takes almost 2 hours.

On Wednesday we had breakfast at the hotel and went to the Turkish school by bus. Already in high school, we were received by the hosts, and we saw the videos that each country had made on green screen.

The Turks showed us their typical dance with their respective costumes, made us a demonstration of piano, guitar, violin and also sang. After that, we had breakfast again, with food made by students or parents. Everything was delicious!

Then we all went to have lunch, while the Turks stayed in high school, and when we came back, we had a video editing class. After class, we went to the center with our hosts for a coffee, and one of the Turkish girls read the future with the Turkish coffee. Then, we walked through the center and entered clothing stores, and finally went to have dinner, super cool! After dinner, our hosts accompanied us to the hotel.

On Thursday, we had to wake up very early to go hiking; first, we went to Caracasu, which is a place full of objects made of ceramics where Sachenka and one of the Portuguese girls dared to make a vase.

Secondly, we went to the ancient city of Aphrodisias, it was a place with a lot of history and a huge number of statues of different gods. After that, we got on the bus and went to have lunch.

Then we left for Pamukkale, an extraordinary, beautiful place, all white, where we could put our feet in the pools that were formed. When we finished the visit, we got on the bus to go back to the hotel to get ready for the international dinner.

At dinner, we were all teachers and students. It was a very nice dinner, they showed the videos that we had made, then awards were given, and we started dancing for a while.  On returning to the hotel, the girls and I began to organize the luggage to leave everything ready for the next morning.

On Friday after breakfast, we went to school, and the Turkish team showed it to us, they distributed the certificates and we had a workshop on how to make a video with green screen. At the end of the workshop, we had coffee and said goodbye to go to lunch.  After lunch, we met our hosts and walked through the center, bought some things and food in the supermarket, then accompanied us to the hotel and said goodbye.

Sachenka and I stayed at the hotel while the rest went shopping because we were tired; when they came back, we had dinner with the Italians. When we finished, we said goodbye to everyone, went back to the hotel to get our luggage and got into a van that took us to Izmir airport.

In Izmir, we took a plane to Istanbul, and from Istanbul, directly to Malaga.  From the airport, Almudena took me home, and we arrived at 12.40 am.

And this is the end of my blog trip to Turkey.

A unique experience that I would repeat, undoubtedly, many thanks to all those who accompanied us, I never imagined going on such a wonderful trip with my school, an unforgettable experience. Thank you. ♥

Exams to correct, notes to put in, homework for the week of the trip… What a madness! Everything was ready to start one of the best experiences of our lives… Our Erasmus to Turkey!!!

Mr. Cruz and I had made an appointment with the girls at the airport at noon. I picked up Sol at her house, and she received me with the same smile that we would keep for the rest of the days.

It was the first time that Natalia traveled by plane and we were attentive to her, but among many conversations, books, movies and laughs, the two flights became part of our memories. Izmir was waiting for us and we were looking forward to seeing it. We took a couple of taxis when we got to the city and went to the Baylan hotel where we rested a little bit.

Mar 26th, 2023

Izmir rose with a scorching sun and we went to the streets to see the most emblematic places. The bustle of people caught our attention, the streets with many dogs and cats, all the shops open... Our destination was clear... We wanted to visit the Izmir Clock Tower square, where hundreds of pigeons fluttered around us being fed by smiling children who they joyfully tossed grains of rice and lentils. If I close my eyes I can still see the light reflected in the small mosque, on the tiles, the joyful bustle around me and especially my partner Mr Cruz, Natalia, Sachenka, Sol and Rurika. We took the opportunity to take a walk, immortalize those moments with our cell phones, as well as having the opportunity to get lost in hidden family restaurants where we tried dishes that we did not know how to pronounce: Ózbek Manti, Pilimen, Somsa… etc. Delicious. We came with an "Openminded" attitude but this country began to fall in love with its gastronomy. I have to admit that I was worried about being almost vegetarian, but Turkey would offer endless flavors to our palate without worrying.

In the afternoon, we met with Amel, a classmate from another Erasmus in which Mr Cruz participated, an English teacher at the Izmir Kiz Lisesi institute. Amel led us to the Asansör, a beautiful elevator built in 1907, where we were able to enjoy a wonderful view of the entire city and enjoy strong Turkish coffee accompanied by Turkish pastries.

Later, we decided to walk along the promenade, and pause to watch the sunset. Amel led us to a street of restaurants where we dined on delicious dishes like soups and lahmacun. We spoke English to each other so that we could understand each other. I must point out that one of the conversations we had was to comment on an exhibition that shocked us in the middle of a garden: Some stone blocks split in two, where some leather suitcases were strangled... But maybe that's what art has, that It provokes you a thousand thoughts and emotions, or as we say in French “te bouleverse, te bouscule”.

Mar 27th, 2023

It had been a while since a Monday was not so desirable... After breakfast we hurriedly went to our appointment with Necmiye, a tourist guide who would tell us the ins and outs of this beautiful city. Squares, libraries closed after the earthquake, mosques… We had a fantastic time with Necmiye where she brought us around the local neighborhoods and other places that we wouldn't know to go ourselves and showed us what local food to eat.

After an afternoon of bazaars, spice shops and thousands of other dream places, we met up with the Bulgarian teachers to have some fish for dinner in a restaurant near the sea, where the waiter, Skerkan, showed us the importance of knowing how to handle different languages since he was a polyglot and spoke our language with a perfect accent.Amazing!

Mar 28th, 2023

This morning it was cold but we were nervous. We met with the Bulgarian teachers and their three students at the door of Izmir Park. A bus full of energy, laughter and emotions would arrive from our left, which started our Erasmus Project. The Turkish students welcomed our students with hugs and kind words, while they helped us carry our luggage...

One of our most desired destinations was today: Meryemana 8 the house of Virgin Mary), and of course 80 km from Izmir, Ephesus, where we have been able to see hundreds of vestiges of this amazing city The city was famous in its day for the Nearby Temple of Artemis (completed around 550 BC), which has been designated one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Its many monumental buildings included the Library of Celsus and a theater… We take lunch in an open buffet and finally we went to Kusadasi, which means "bird island" in Turkish, is set in a superb gulf in the Aegean region of Turkey and is Known for its turquoise sparkling water of the Aegean Sea, broad sandy beaches, bright sun and large marina. But today it was not like that, the sea was rough and it did not stop raining... However, the Turkish students took us to a small bar near the port where we tasted some fish sandwiches that left no one indifferent... Impossible to forget this pleasant food !

Mar 29th, 2023

Today we stayed at the Turkish school because rain was forecast. We started with a lot of very enjoyable activities that we liked a lot. An opening ceremony at school, the country introduction videos, presentation songs and National dance.

Then the students, teachers and families gave us a breakfast to remember where we ate typical sweets such as Bklava, and fruit juices such as grenadine. Then we saw the school a bit and we carried out the activities organized in our project where we could see the videos created by the other groups in Portugal, Croatia, Turkey, Bulgaria as well as ours where our students presented a news section where they have presented some of the traditions and festivals of Andalusia such as Holy Week and the "Torrijas".

In the afternoon, the Turkish hosts shared moments of happiness, games and tea with our European students. On the other hand, the teachers, after a hard day's work, were invited to the home of the family of Orhan and Giulia. An incredible banquet where there was no lack of any typical dish such as the "Dolma" typically made with a filling of rice, minced meat, offal, seafood, fruit, or any combination of these inside a vegetable or a leaf wrapping. Wrapped dolma, specifically, are known as sarma, made by rolling grape, cabbage, or other leaves around the filling. However, one of the most exciting highlights of the night was when the son of the family played the guitar and gave us traditional songs accompanied by the voice of his neighbors. Even thinking about it gives me goose bumps.

Mar 30th, 2023

The third day of the project, we went to Karacasu where our students could enjoy crafts and Pottery. We visited the majestic ancient city of Afrodisias where our students made videos and were able to enjoy ancient sculptures as well as spectacular places such as the Temple of Aphrodite, the Odeom or the Stadium which was used for athletic events until the theater was badly damaged by a 7th- century earthquake.

At 14h, we went to Pamukkale. Pamukkale is famous for the incredible white travertine terraces on which Hierapolis, once a major center of trade and culture, sat atop. The hot springs release mineral-rich water onto the landscape below, forming a unique structure that looks like a cotton castle, and that is where the name comes from. Our students recorded short clips oof the travertenes. But... Oh my God! We had a little accident! Rurika slipped when getting out of one of the pools, hurting her knee and wetting her pants. She went to change accompanied by Sol, while the teachers were heading to the exit. But the minutes passed and Rurika did not come out... They spent 30 interminable minutes waiting for the girls after having notified Security, when Umut, one of the most competent students I have ever met, told me: "Be quiet Maria, don't worry. Everything will be ok. This is my job”

Rurika and Sol slowly appeared among the people, since she had hurt her knee... And we headed towards Nazilli.

There the International Dinner was waiting for us. There we sat at a large table where we had the opportunity to converse in English, Italian, Spanish and, of course, learn a little Turkish. The students have presented again the videos made due to technical problems the previous days. After seeing and presenting them, the Turkish students and as a contest invite us all to vote for the students who have best presented their videos. Amazingly, Rurika won one of the OScars! We were very happy and we took many photos... For a moment, Rurika forgot the pain in her knee so that we could all dance together to songs known to all like Shakira's Waka Waka, and dozens of other songs known to all the students... Unfortunately, We have had to return to the hotel early since tomorrow is going to be a day of work at the College, travel and strong emotions.

Mar 31th, 2023

The Fourth Day, we went to the school. There we have divided teachers and students. Our students were playing volleyball with the others and doing workshops. The teachers visited the school knowing the Art class, the Robotics class, the music class where Professor Serpil has delighted us by singing traditional Turkish songs. Then the teachers have had the "Teachers meeting" where we have talked about Etwinning, the Europass, the next mobility in Guimaraes... Finally, we have all met again where we have obtained the certificates and some gifts. Without a doubt, Turkey is enchanting us and its people and culture have left us amazed.

With a few tears in their eyes, the farewells began, the hugs, the laughter mixed with euphoria... I write from the Istanbul-Malaga plane from where I can still hear the students and teachers in my mind, with a smile on my face.

In the afternoon we went for a walk around Nazilli, to make the last purchases to give to our family: some books, bookmarks, sweets, dates, bracelets... We ended the night having dinner with the Italian students in a restaurant where there was Lahmacun. The waitresses were laughing at us because I asked for one without meat and…they couldn't understand it! Since Rurika and Sol are very outgoing, they struck up a conversation with the waitresses with the help of their mobile phone and translator. It's been so much fun!

But... unfortunately everything comes to an end, and we had to take the transfer. A 2-hour journey that has allowed me to get to know Japanese culture and customs at the hands of Rurika, with whom I haven't stopped talking all night.

When we arrived at the IZmir airport, we were exhausted. We had to organize so many experiences and moments in our heads that we no longer knew how to differentiate the days gone by.

Looking forward to returning to Turkey, looking forward to traveling again and continuing to learn about other cultures. Thanks to Mr Cruz for giving me the opportunity to participate in this wonderful project... It has been incredible.

Türkiye travel blog
25-03-2023: Departure day to Turkey. I got up very early, my parents took me to the airport (I
arrived quite early). There we met the girls and the teachers. The flight was fine, not too long
and not too short, I saw a film "Wakanda forever". Nati was a bit scared and that made me
laugh. The views were amazing, it's one of my favorite parts of travelling. We arrived in
Istanbul, that airport is really big and clean. The second flight was from Istanbul to Izmir, it
was a short and quick flight.

We took a taxi and headed to the hotel.

26-03-2023: That day we got up not so early due to the tiredness of the trip. The first thing
we visited was the clock building where we visited Konak which is the center of Turkey. We
ate in a typical Turkish and Uzbek food place, then we went to Asansor, it’s an elevator
where you can see wonderful views of the city, there we had a coffee and enjoyed the viewsa little, we returned to the hotel to then go to dinner. After lunch we return to the hotel. End of
the day Monday.

27-03-2023: We got up quite early, we had a nice breakfast and then we went to the free
tour, where the very kind chicha explained us many things about the city and its historical
places. We knew a lot about the city, a very nice and big city. We spent most of the day in
the giant bazaar in Nazili, we bought many souvenirs for my family and friends, and webought typical sweets in a very well known shop. Finally, we went to dinner with the
Bulgarian teachers in a luxurious place with exquisite food, it was amazing.

28-03-2023: This was a busy day, lots of movement. We got up early to go to several
beautiful places. First of all, we met and got to know a group of Turkish students. The first
place to visit was the House of the Virgin Mary (supposedly) it was a nice experience, we
made wishes and I washed my face with holy water. After the Virgin Mary's house we went
to Ephesus, but there were a few problems and we had to go for lunch while they sorted outthe situation. The restaurant was a buffet, the food was very good, there were typical Turkish
dishes and some not so typical. After lunch we went to the village of Sirince, a village that is
well known for its wines, a very nice and cosy place, where I bought more magnets for my
collection. Kadasu is an exquisite place, where we had a delicious fish sandwich, that was
our dinner of that great day. The day ended with many beautiful memories and beautiful
places.

29-03-2023: on Wednesday we visited the institute of the Turkish students. They sang,
danced and performed a variety of shows. We were welcomed, the videos of each of the
mobility groups were shown, each of the countries did exceptional work. We had some free
time where we could interact with the other students and make new relationships, we also
ate typical sweets from the country, amazing, I loved the Baclavas. We had our firstworkshop on how we should make a video (cut, paste, choose text and more). After that we
could go out with our hosts to see the town, shop, see stores. The girls' host and mine took
us to a coffee shop where I tasted fruit tea, it was great and very cheap, we were talking and
getting to know each other more, it was a very nice and fun afternoon. Rurika's host Sena
read Rurika and Sol's coffees, a very cool experience. I had dinner at my host's house with
her friends, an exquisite meal, I loved it, her mom cooks very good. That's how the day ends.

30-03-2023: Thursday was a very tiring day, but it was amazing. We visited many places,
like a village where they make ceramic pots, I for example made one and wrote the name of
our high school on it, it was wonderful. Then we went to the temple of Aphrodisias, it is
spectacular, ruins full of history, and we saw a small museum that is in the temple, with
statues made with marble of philosophers and gods in real size. Pamukkale was the last
stop and it was extremely amazing, it is a mind-blowing place, with wonderful views. We also
had the international dinner, where we danced and laughed a lot, it was a very nice moment.

31-03-2023: The last day of our trip to Türkiye . We were at the Turkish students' institute,
they gave us some courses on how to make a video and how to use the green screen, I
spent a lot of time with my host, met her friends and interacted with other students from
different countries. It was a quieter day, although tiring because we went to the airport in the
evening to catch our flight to Málaga.

My short summary is that the mobility was extraordinary. The Turkish students are
amazing, they are very friendly and organised. The students from the other countries
were also very nice and polite. The landscapes were spectacular, an experience I
would repeat. Türkiye has a piece of my heart.

Rurika’s blog

Day 1

On Saturday, the 25th, we started our Erasmus trip to Turkiye. This is my first time going to

another country as a school program.

My journey started with going to the airport and taking the first flight, to Istambul. Which, I sat

with Sol. We had a nice chat with a guy that sat next to us. It was an unexpected encounter

but it was very entertaining. So even though the flight was 4h long, the time passed by

quickly. After that, we had a delicious dinner at the airport in Istambul.

Day 2

On the next day, since we had some time to explore Izmir, after eating breakfast, we decided

to go to the coastline. On our way, we also passed by the Bazar in which we saw very

beautiful dresses. Afterward, we went to a restaurant and tried many dishes I never tried. It

was interesting that they had pilav because I have eaten pilav in Japan, but I never knew

where it came from. Also, they had a dish called Mantu, which was similar to the dumplings

of Xiao long bao. I noticed the similarity of foods between countries. Later on, we met an

English teacher in Izmir, Emel, which Mr.Cruz had known from other Erasmus trips. She told

us to meet at the Asansör, which was an elevator in the middle of the street that connects

the higher ground with the lower one. She took us to a restaurant with wonderful views,

where I tried for the first time, Turkish coffee, and a chocolate berry cake. I loved both of

them, it was very very delicious. When I finished drinking the coffee, Emel told me that there

is this tradition of fortune telling from the cup. So, I flipped my cup to the saucer, until it cools

up. And Emel read the coffee that stayed in the cup. She told me that she saw a bird, which

represents wealth, and a trip with a boat. I'm very curious if it will be true, and I wish so!

Emel took us to the coastline and we saw the sunset, which was spectacular. We had dinner,

and we ended up being very full. But we saw a juice stand, so we bought, one to drink on

our way home!

Day 3

On Monday, we went on a free tour to explore Izmir. It was our last day at Izmir, so I tried all I

could do so that I missed the least possible. (Spoiler: I failed, I needed more time). During

the free tour, we explored the city center. One of the places we visited was a mosque. I didn't

expect we could go in since I'm not Muslim, but we were able to go in, wearing a veil on our

heads. It was impressive and interesting, so I am so glad we were able to see the inside.

When we finished with the free tour, we ate lunch, and afterward, we also walked around the

Bazaar where I bought a couple of souvenirs and some Turkish delights for my friends and

family (obviously for myself too!!!). Later on, I went back to the Bazar because there were so

many cute clothes and I didn't have a chance to buy them, but unfortunately, the stores were

closing and I couldn't buy clothes. To end the day, we met with the Bulgarian teachers to

have dinner. We had some seafood, and it was very delicious! The waiter that attended us

spoke 35 languages. He told us that he learned it all with his customers. We were all

impressed with it. We got back to the hotel, packed our suitcases to be ready for the next

day, and ended our wonderful day in Izmir.

Day 4

On Tuesday, we finally got to meet the other students and our hosts. We met at a meeting

point and a bus picked us up. After greeting the other students, we got on the bus and

started our road trip. First of all, we went to the Virgin Mary's house, which was not too much

but interesting. We wrote our wishes on paper and tied them to a wall since it's a tradition in

this tourist place. Afterward, we went to Ephesus, which is an ancient city. But we had some

problems with the tickets so we saw some souvenir stores meanwhile. So, instead of going

to Ephesus now, we went to eat lunch first and after, to visit the ancient city. The lunch was

buffet style, and I loved it because I get to choose my portions and try a little bit of

everything. The desserts were awesome too! When we finished eating, we went to the

ancient city. The place was spectacular and we learned the types of columns. After that, we

went to the city of Sirince, which is a village near Ephesus. Sirince is famous for its fruit

wines, so I tried some and bought a bottle. On our way to Kusadasi, the Turkish students

played local music and danced to it. Even the teacher danced! By the time we arrived in

Kusadasi, it was raining a lot, so we decided to go to a restaurant to eat dinner. Gonca, one

of the Turkish students, brought us to a local restaurant. It was a sandwich of sardines and

lettuce. It was simple but delicious and also very cheap. After that, we ran to the meeting

point because it was pouring. By the time the bus came, we all got wet. After two hours of

the bus trip, we arrived in Nazilli around midnight.

Day 5

On Wednesday, we ended up going to the local school, because there was a change of

plans. We got to meet so many more students, which welcomed us so delightfully. We

watched the videos we and other countries made in an auditorium. Also, Turkish students

performed some music and traditional dance, which was spectacular and unbelievable that

so many of them can play an instrument and perform it in front of many people. We got to try

some homemade Baklavas and Salmas too. It was delicious!!! Later on, we put on some

music and danced to it. When we went to the school's toilet, it was À la Turca, and I

struggled to use it. So afterward we had a workshop about Capcut. After finishing the

workshop, we decided to go to a local coffee shop, with our hosts. We had Turkish coffee

and a "hot juice" which was delicious. When I finished my coffee, my host, Sena read my

fortune from my coffee. I had to sing a spell in Turkish! She said that I have three paths, but

all of them will lead me to happiness. But at the same time, I may be so sad that I will cry a

lot, or that I will be so happy that I will be crying. I hope it will be happiness that makes me

cry. Since I know how to read fortune by palmistry, I read the coffee shop lady's hands, and

also many others' hands because they are interested. After having coffee, we went around

the city center, but I didn't buy anything. We all went to have dinner. It was very funny when

Natalia told me I have to eat Durum because it was the cheapest option! We ordered the

same thing with water. I finally got to eat authentic Kebab. But it was kind of different from

the Spanish one, but it was delicious. After that, we went to a local supermarket and bought

some snacks, and got to the hotel earlier than usual. In the hotel, I read Natalia and

Sachenka's hands. They were happy about it, and I was glad that none of us had a bad

fortune.

Day 6

We left early to get on the bus, and the first stop was in Caracasu, which is famous for its

pottery. The man, who is a professional at it, made a few potteries in front of us, and

sometimes he wasn't even looking at what he was doing, but he made it fantastically. It was

interesting that he had made so many masks of Ataturk. After that, we went to the Ancient

City of Aphrodite, which was huge and interesting. But my favorite part of the place was the

museum, which had many statues that were found. Some statues have interesting faces or

poses, so it was fun imagining what they represented. The most surprising thing is that our

guide spoke Japanese very fluently, and I got to have a wonderful conversation in Japanese

with him. I talked very casually with him and he understood perfectly, which is something

very difficult. Later on, we had lunch and headed to Pamukkale, a beautiful and unbelievable

place. Thermal waters were coming out, and we could put our feet in. It was kind of warm,

and I loved it a lot!! After that, we were walking around or sat so that our feet is inside the

thermal water. Later on, just in front of the exit, I slipped because of the thermal water and

fell. I hurt my knee and got completely wet. Sol offered to lend me her leggings, so we went

to the toilet, but we couldn't find our way back and got lost. We couldn't find the group or the

bus, so we asked some people, but it didn't help. But after walking around looking for the

group, the guide found us! We were glad, and we headed to the bus. Umutefe had contacted

security too! I'm very surprised by the hospitality they offered us. Afterward, we headed to

the hotel to get prepared for the Gala night, but since we didn't have so much time, we were

in a big hurry. When we got to the restaurant, we had dinner and after that, we voted for the

best video. They started giving out awards, and unexpectedly, I received an award!!! I was

so surprised because I didn't expect it! I received a trophy, and after that, we danced to

some music with everyone!!! It was so much fun, and I got to spend time with different

people. I also read Sumos's hand fortune. We got interesting results... And since it was

getting late, and the students that stayed in the dormitory had to leave, we left the restaurant

and got back to the hotel around 12:30. When we got back to the hotel, we put on some

music and started to pack our suitcases. Meanwhile, we heard a knock from the other side of

the door, and it was funny because we had a "conversation". Also, we tried some local soft

drinks, because Almudena, our teacher, bought them for us. By the time we finished

everything, it was already 2 am.

Day 7

This day was the last but at the same time the most relaxed day, since we didn't have any

planned trips. So, after eating our last breakfast, we headed to the school, but since my knee

hurts, Mr.Cruz called a taxi for us, and we all went by taxi. The students welcomed us lovely,

and we had a ceremony where the certificates were given. During the ceremony, I

remembered the different moments of the trip, and it made me emotional. Also, Sude, who is

a girl who was not part of the Erasmus project but welcomed us delightfully, passed by, so I

had a small chat with her. After finishing the ceremony, we had a workshop about editing

skills using a green screen. It was very interesting since I got to know ways to improve the

video we had made. After that we had some free time, so we had a coffee from the canteen,

and after that, we tried to say goodbye to everyone, but it was very hard for all of us,

especially because with some people, I finally got to know each other. After taking pictures

and saying goodbyes, we left the school to go to the hotel. We went without the teachers,

without any internet connection, and we were worried that we would get lost. But we got to

the hotel safely and on time. So we went to have lunch with everyone, to say goodbye to the

Portuguese people and the Croatian people because they had to leave in a short while, but

the problem was that the Portugueses' food came very late, so the students had to rush. A

few girls like Sude came to the restaurant to say a last goodbye. After that, we enjoyed

shopping with some of the Turkish students with whom we got along. It was very fun and we

bought bracelets, some snacks and also ate some baklava!!! It was fantastic. Afterward, we

said farewell with the girls too, and rested a little bit in the hotel lobby, since Sol and

Sachenka were tired, but Natalia and I were not, so we decided to walk around a little bit

more with our teachers. I ended up buying sunglasses because mine had broken the day

before. Afterward, we had a kebab for dinner with the Italian students. In the kebab store, I

was talking with two lovely staff, using a translator. They were very funny and kind. After

finishing dinner, we headed to a bar, where the other countries are, to say goodbye and

appreciate their work. I deeply remember what Stefani, the Italian teacher, told me: you are a

star and you are capable of being anyone. I hope to see you soon or in the future, but I know

you will be a marvelous person. Be confident. These words almost made me tear up,

especially because I didn't expect it from her, and because I felt that these words came from

her heart. Also, I was happy when Orhan, the Turkish teacher, told me that we can consider

Nazilli as a house and that we were always welcome. I didn't expect a teacher to tell us this,

so I loved it. After greeting everyone, we picked up our suitcase and headed to the airport.

The driver was the same guy that spoke Japanese. It was nice to meet him again.

During this trip, I truly felt the importance of the people during a vacation, because a

country's value isn't just about the buildings or cities, it's also about the people. And I'm

deeply glad and thankful for this project that allowed me to meet the people of a country,

something that is difficult when I'm traveling on my own.

MY TRIP TO TÜRKIYE

SATURDAY, MARCH 25th, 2023

Today in the morning I woke up very excited for this trip to Turkiye and also because this is the first time that I travel by plane.

Later we arrived to Izmir on Sunday around 1or 2 am, I don’ t remember exactly. Also on the airport.

As an interesting fact, at the Istanbul airport, when I went to the bathroom, I found that there was a Turkish bath, but luckily there were also normal bathrooms.

SUNDAY, MARCH 26th, 2023

Today we woke up to go to breakfast but we were very tired so we came

back to our room. We went to lunch a un local restaurant where two old

people made us a very good meal, the disadvantage was that they didn’t

speak any English but that wasn’t a problem . Ten we went to Asansor to

drink a coffee with a friend of Mrs Cruz’s who is an English teacher in

Izmir. To go up to Asansor you had to take an elevator and I got a little

nervous because elevators scare me. There were very good views, after

having a drink we went down and Mel, the English teacher, took us to see

the sunset on the seafront. Finally we went to dinner, we ordered and

this is what they brought.

MONDAY, MARCH 27th, 2023

Today we have gone on a free tour, our guide was called Nesh and she has

been very kind to us. She has taken us to a typical bazaar and a market, we

have also entered a mosk covering our hair and taking off our shoes.

In addition, she has recommended us to go to a haman but unfortunately

we haven’t given us time. After finishing the tour we took a photo with

her and we said goodbye.

At lunchtime we ate in a place that seemed like the home of those people,

and they didn’t speak any English.

For dinner we went to an expensive restaurant with the Bulgarian

teachers, I think the best thing was that in that restaurant they refilled our

glass of water all the time😂

TUESDAY, MARCH 28th, 2023

Today we have woken up early for breakfast soon because the turkish

team will pick us up by bus to go to the ancient city of Ephesus.

When they arrived at the place where we stayed, they were very attentive

and they quickly got off the bus to help us with suitcases.

Firstly we went to the mary virgin’s house where we write our wishes on

paper and leave them there to be fulfilled. Then we went to the Ephesus

but it had a problem so we went to lunch and after we came back to the

Ephesus.

At lunch there was a special rice from Turkiye that is also available in

Turkish restaurants in Malaga and I love it so I filled my plate. Then we

came back to Ephesus which is amazing. Also we went to Şirince, which is

a town where there is a bazaar and many souvenir stalls and handcrafts.

Finally, for dinner we went to Kuşadası, a coastal city and we had dinner in

a bar where we ate fried anchovy sandwiches.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 29TH, 2023

Today we went to the school and we made the presentation of the video

that we made in Malaga before coming. Then there was a break time and

we wanted to go to the bathroom but when we got to the toilet to our

surprise there was only a Turkish toilet so we spent 5 minutes trying to

learn how to use it, it was a bit uncomfortable but finally we could without

problem. Then we finished watching the videos and they danced the

typical dance with the typical costumes, then they played and sang for us.

The girls sang very well and two of them played the piano and it was very

nice.

After finishing that we went back to the break room but this time only the

students, most of whom were women, so they put on music and taught us

some steps. After 10 minutes we entered a small assembly hall where a

man gave us a capcut presentation but most of them fell asleep.

We went to have lunch and then we returned to the institute, later we

went with our hosts to a café and I ordered a banana tea that was very

tasty, then we took a walk around the center and ate a döner for dinner.

THURSDAY, MARCH 30th, 2023

Today is the earliest day we have got up these days and we went to have

breakfast at seven o’clock. At the end we got on the bus on the way to

Pamulake but on the way we stopped at a place where they made

ceramics, even Sachenka was able to make one.

Then we stopped at an ancient city called Afrodisias and finally we went to

Pamukale, a spectacular place and I really liked it.

We had dinner together in a restaurant and we watched the videos again

to name the winners and Rurika won an award.

FRIDAY, MARCH 31ST, 2023

Today we went to the institute by taxi and there they gave us a tour of the

institute, we saw the art class, the music class and the library, then we

went to the classroom where they recorded videos to continue with the

explanation of how to make videos or photos with greenscreen.

When we finished we went to the assembly hall where they gave us some

certificates and finally we had to say goodbye to everyone because that

same day at night we were going back to Malaga.
